My words.................
I got confused and didn't know what to do
Seemingly lost is what I was
Now don't get me wrong
I wasn't walking or riding and then
Suddenly lost my way
It was in my direction my purpose
It seemed I was lost
I was some how misplaced
Though I looked around and at first felt I fit
The more I worked
The harder I dug my heels in
I became even more lost
Contest after contest I entered
Placing near last
Putting my work out there
Left and right
Morning and night
Working my fingers to the bone
Calling and writing
Pushing others then myself
Building and building I thought I was doing
To finally be told in the end
This is a black persons world
You just don't fit
Don't you get it
You don't belong here go back
To your side of the track
See you will never understand our history
Now I'm lost
For I thought if I was American It was my history too
How can I teach my "black" children
That I their white mother don't belong
See you are wrong
While you are screaming at my head
My mind is streaming with
All this poetry
All the wounds and injustice We suffered
But you scream louder the Spoken Word
Industry is not for me
Why I don't understand
For now to not allow what's inside trying to come out
Is making me feel
LOST...........................
